Young people who are studying for Art GCSE from Quintin Kynaston School are working with Tate Britain in an artist-led project to explore cultural identity through their own practice and Tate Britain displays. They are sharing their pictures and ideas on this web site with young people from Damascus and invite ideas and comments from their teachers, Tate’s curators, and you.

This was one of my favourite views of Damascus. I was at one of the highest points in the city, on the mountain top looking down.

257 Friends and Family and The Future

This image and the ones below we thought fitted the theme of ‘friends and family’ becuase we combined images that reflected our family history. We also thought that the work refelcted our hopes for ‘the future’ - a coming together and understanding of all different cultures. Jaymie and Nuwan

This is a picture of Sri Lanka, where me and my family were born. I wanted to mix it with an image of England where we live now. The work also shows Syrian patterns, to show you that I am thinking of you. Bye from Nuwanimage

Jaymie chose these images of windmills and the sea as they remind him of the English landscape where he holidays with his family.
